Attempting to Understand Synchronicity
1. A sync occurs when connections arise in the material world that have meaning beyond mere chance. Sync = connection + meaning. The below chart outlines the connection and meaning aspects that comprise a sync event.
2. "The numinosity of a series of chance happenings grows in proportion to the number of its terms. ... Since we cannot conceive how this could be possible without recourse to positively magical categories, we generally let it go at the bare impression." Carl Jung, see note [1].
3. Another definition of sync could be "the merger of inner and outer realities." That is to say, what is inside manifests externally, or working both ways, external connections map the internal, uncovering parts of one's inner self.
4. Sports is rife with syncs. Sporting events are a receptacle for the attention of the masses. For example, on 9/10/2001 Monday Night Football played at Mile High Stadium, and the New York Giants lost to the Denver Broncos. The game ended after midnight eastern time, or on 9/11/2001 in New York. The final score was 31-20. It was the 9th meeting between the two teams and the New York Giants lost by 11 points, echoing 9-11. [2] The New York Giants resonate with the two towers, themselves New York giants; the game was played at Mile High Stadium (again a tower description); and the Broncos resonate with lightning and Pegasus (see Will Morgan's work).
5. The boundary between the subjective and the objective is porous. Sync connections may change the viewer's perceptions and interpretations. Changes of perception and interpretation can cause one to see new and different sync connections.
6. One theory of sync is that it's a phenomenon by which the unconscious--collective or otherwise--sends messages to be decoded. The practice of interpreting syncs is a kind of mysticism in that it often includes contemplation and very often transcends simple intellect.
7. The final meaning or purpose of a sync web is mysterious. Peter Levenda says sync is the evidence of "Sinister Forces." Alan Green said in Sync Quick News Episode 17 that sync is evidence that "we are all connected." A mystery is something that the more you learn about it, the more you know you can never fully know it.
Lebron James Background
8. As a Junior in High School in 2002, Lebron James was termed the “chosen one” on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He was cast as heir apparent to Michael Jordan, the brightest figurehead of the corporate-sports-industrial-complex.
9. His nickname is King James. The King James bible helped mold modern English [3] and was edited by a candidate for the "real Shakespeare," Francis Bacon. [4]
10. He's one of the most powerful people in sports, currently number 3 on Forbes' list of highest paid athletes and number 2 on Forbes' "Celebrity 100." [5] "Queen B," Beyonce, reigns as number 1.
11. In the Summer of 2014, LeBron shut down the NBA free agent market while teams waited for him to decide where he would play. On July 11, 2014 (7/11/2014) he announced through Sports Illustrated he would return to his hometown team, the team of his first 7 years in the NBA: the Cleveland Cavaliers, known as "the Land." [6] It was the "Return of the King."
12. This announcement, and its anticipation, was at some level a "Mass Consciousness Event." Attention grabbing events have in the past been sync heavy (think 9-11, The Dark Knight Rises film, etc.). Lebron's announcement was the most popular story in the Sports Illustrated website's history. [7]
The Thoth Tarot Emperor Card
13. The Thoth Tarot was created by Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The Emperor card is the 4th ATU or trump.
14. LeBron wears the same chin style beard as the Emperor.
15. The colors of the Cleveland Cavaliers are wine and gold. The colors of the Emperor card are gold and a hue of orange. While not an exact color match, there is strong match with at least the gold.
16. The Emperor holds an item called the Globus Cruciger, a little smaller than a basketball but similarly sized. [8] The Emperor is "palming" the globe, an action that basketball players perform with the basketball. "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." [9]
17. A statute of Zeus at Olympia was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world according to Herodotus. The statue, now destroyed, has been drawn with Zeus holding a sceptre and a basketball sized orb. [10]
18. In August 2014 (after his 7/11 homecoming announcement) LeBron tweeted a picture of himself with his wife at the temple of Zeus in Athens. [11]
Holy Roman Emperor King Charles the IV
19. On July 11, 1346 (7/11), Charles the IV was elected King of the Romans, a title used as a claim to become Holy Roman Emperor. [12] (Recall, 7/11/2014 is the day LeBron announced he was returning the Cleveland.)
20. King Charles the IV is famous for, as Holy Roman Emperor, heading the Imperial Diet that decreed the Golden Bull, the seal of which bears a close resemblance to the Emperor card imagery.
21. Compare the seal of the Golden Bull to the Emperor card of the Thoth Tarot (shown above) and to the 15th century Visconti-Sforza Tarot Emperor.
22. "To have actual authority, the [Holy Roman] emperor would have to take up residence in Italy as did Frederick II, who ... was responsible for reinstituting the triumphal parade." [13] Tarot historians suggest the images of the Tarot may have derived from the triumphal parades in Northern Italy.
23. Some scholars mark the ending of the Holy Roman Empire with the end of WW1 and the defeat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The last Monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was a different Charles the IV.
24. In April 2008 Lebron was depicted on the cover of Vogue in an image copied from U.S. World War 1 recruitment posters calling Germany a "mad brute." Again, LeBron resonates with Holy Roman Empire lands, here in a negatively stereotypical fashion. [14]
King Charles' Cavaliers
25. The name "cavalier" comes from another King Charles and means "royalist." During the English civil war, cavaliers were known as supporters of King Charles I and his son King Charles II. There are now four distinct Kings Charles in this sync web.
26. A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a dog breed of average intelligence.
27. In 1970 Jerry Tomko won a contest to name the Cleveland Cavaliers and wrote that the Cavaliers “represent a group of daring, fearless men, whose life's pact was never surrender, no matter what the odds.” [15]
Tzaddi is Not the Star
29. Interestingly, Crowley was not the first Tarologist to associate Tzaddi with the Emperor and He with the Star. In the 18th century, Comte de Mellet "seems to have been the first person to explicitly define a relationship between the trumps and Hebrew letters." [17] His implicit association had Tzaddi with the Emperor and He with the Star. Comte de Mellet even used the name "The Book of Thoth," when referring to the Tarot.
30. Tzaddi means "fish hook."
32. Beyond switching Hebrew letter associations, the Star and the Emperor are a special pair. In Tarology each Major Arcana can be paired with another so that their numbers add to 21. For example, the Fool is 0 and when added to the Universe at 21, you get 21. The Emperor is 4 and the Star is 17, and 4 + 17 = 21.
Personal Sync Wave of December 8th and 9th 2014
33. On December 8, 2014, the Cleveland Cavaliers played the Brooklyn Nets in Kings County, New York City. The game was held at the Barclays Center and attended by Jay-Z, Beyonce (Queen B), Prince William, and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. [19]
37. Also after the game, Lebron met with the young royals and gave them two Cavs jerseys, one with the number 1 and with George written on it, and another with the number 7 and with Cambridge on it. In a now infamous (for me personally) picture, they collectively hold up the two jerseys to produce the number 17. It was as if they all three were confirming the sync research found in my personal writings. Admittedly, when I saw the image it seemed they were looking directly at me, this charade done to confirm my work. It was the ultimate sync wink, the Emperor (Lebron) was saying, "Tzaddi is not the star, I am."
38. The next morning, I was interviewed by Douglas Bolles and William Morgan on their podcast 42 Minutes. [23] I’d been keeping up with the Lebron sync web for a few months, in particular the LeBron James Emperor Tarot sync and strange aspects of the number 17.
39. During the 42 minutes interview Will suggested I read Loren Coleman's blog. I did later in the day and found this update to Loren's December 8th post. [24] When I read it, it was more confirmation of the power of the sync wave I was riding.

40. This sync went even deeper given we discussed Elliott Smith during the interview, who committed suicide (supposedly) at age 34; the exit music Doug chose was Elliott's song "King's Crossing"; and our discussion included photography.

42. Back to Lebron's twitter account, in an article on February 8, 2015, when pressed about certain cryptic tweets he made regarding teammate Kevin Love, Lebron "laughed and said, 'It’s not a coincidence, man.'" [25]
Possible Meanings
43. Lamb vs. Ram: in The Book of Thoth Crowley writes about the symbolism of the Emperor card: “He is seated upon the throne whose capitals are the heads of the Himalayan wild ram, since Aries means a Ram. The ram, by nature, is a wild and courageous animal. At his feet, couchant, is the Lamb and Flag, to confirm this attribution on the lower plane. When tamed and made to lie down in green pastures, nothing is left but the docile, cowardly, gregarious and succulent beast. This is the theory of government.” [26] The Emperor card gives one an opportunity to examine his docility in the face of a culture designed to keep people asleep, particularly using corporate sporting events to this end.

The project was completed in January 2011 and consists of 42 portraits of dogs made from the posters announcing them lost. The project can be viewed on flickr. [27] There was no reason to stop at 42, the work simply felt complete at that number. The now defunct online literature journal "kitchen" featured all 42 images in the summer of 2011, a few months before the first Sync Book was published and before I was aware of the symbolism of 42 (which I learned about from Sync Book Vol. 1). [28] The artist statement I included on flickr offered background, saying: "These dogs may have a wisdom or a knowledge that we can't understand." I thought the portraits were of heroic dogs who had broken free from abusive environments, for example "Lost Dog #9".

55. Some conspiracy theorists include David Geffen as a suspect in John Lennon's assassination. Geffen is also suspected in Kurt Cobain's death, and was the head of the studio that was the object of Elliott Smith's paranoia. All three were signed to a David Geffen run studio.
